My name is Nibwene, which means ‘I have seen myself’ in Nyakyusa language (I can’t speak this though). I’m from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and I’ve been living in Berlin, Germany since June 2021. I started this blog when I was in high school in 2014. Topics here are random and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing.
Things I do, other than this blog:
I (also) write on Substack: ubuyu – there I focus on African social/cultural topics and a bit of history.
I organise a monthly in-person book club in Berlin, focused on African literature set in the continent.
Trying to get a j*b in the climate and (clean) energy sector since the summer of 2024.
And I love quotes, as you’ll notice while reading my stuff.
